Hi friend ,

• Isotopes are the atoms of the same elements having same atomic number but different atomic mass.

• For ex: Chlorine
Isotopes of chlorine are :
1. Atomic mass = 37 u
Atomic no. = 17
2. Atomic mass = 35u
Atomic no. = 17

These two are the isotopes of the same atom that is chlorine and have different atomic mass but same atomic no.

• Isobars are atoms of different elements having same atomic mass but different atomic no.

• For ex: Argon and Calcium
Argon atomic no. = 18
Argon atomic mass = 40
Calcium atomic no. = 20
Calcium atomic mass = 40

These both are atoms of different elements and have different atomic no. but Sam eatomuc mass so they are Isobars .

Hope this helped u...

Hi there !!!

Isotopes are actually the atoms which are of a same element .
The specialty of is that the isotopes have same atomic number , but at the same have different mass number.

The atomic number of an element = no: of protons in that element

Mass number = protons + neutrons in an atom

Example of isotope :

<> Isotopes of Chlorine with atomic number of both the isotopes as 17.
The difference between them is that of their mass number

=========================================================

Isobars on the other hand are opposite to isotopes.

Isobars have different atomic numbers and same mass numbers.

Example of isobars :

Calcium and Argon are isobars.

Calcium and Argon have same mass numbers as 40 .

But , the atomic no: of calcium is 20 , whereas atomic number of argon is 18.
