An area of flood-free ground in a region of wetland.  

This word applies to settlements and dry point settlements.

UK's dry point includes Glastonbury in marshy and flooded Wareham in Dorset surrounded by flood plains on the west and Poole Harbour towards east.

Dry point has benefits of flood protection and flat land which is good for agriculture and building.
