mole term was first given by Wilhelm Ostwald from latin word mole which means heap or piles. in 1967 it was accepted by the world . one mole of any species is that quantity in number having mass equal to its atomic mass or molecular mass in grams.

a mole of a substance is that the amount of substance which contains same number of particles ( they maybe atoms , particles , ions , molecules ) as there are carbon atoms in 12 grams of Carbon - 12 ( isotope ) element
