explain with help of diagram of double circulation of blood
Answers
Double circulation refers to the circulation of blood to 2 different pathways namely:
1) Pulmonary circulation
The blood from the right ventricle is taken to the lungs via the pulmonary artery for oxygenation. The blood after oxygenation at the lungs is drained in the left atrium as oxygenated blood by the pulmonary vein.
2) Systemic circulation
The oxygenated blood from left ventricle is transferred into the aorta which carries the blood to different parts of the body. Once this blood is delivered to cells, the carbon-dioxide rich deoxygenated blood is collected by the superior and inferior vena cava and drained back into the right atrium.
Thus the blood is pumped by heart to 2 different pathways and thus called double circulation.
