Explain, with reason, the nature of variation of the vapor pressure of a liquid in presence of a non-volatile solute.

Explanation:

When the non volatile solute is added to the pure solvent the solute particle occupies the surface and make lesser quantity of solvent to evaporate, the vapour pressure decreases.
