In figure A, the switch is on and the circuit is complete. Electricity flows and the Electromagnet gets magnetized. Therefore the iron hammer gets attracted towards the Electromagnet and it strikes the gong producing a sound. Because of this moment the circuit breaks. Electromagnet gets demagnetized and iron hammer comes back to original position the circuit is complete again. The whole process of making and breaking the circuit continues which results in the ringing sound of the bell. The process continues until the switch is turned off..
