if u take 100ml of water in a beaker and add some salt to it , you will find that the water level on dissolving salt in the water does not increases. but then the question arises that where does the salt goes? so the answer to the question is that its particles takes places in the spaces between the particles of water. therefore we get to know that there are spaces in between the particles of matter.
