- Two experiments are used to demonstrate how light travels in straight lines. In the first example, the presenter arranges three pieces of card, with holes in, in an uneven line. The light stops and cannot travel through all three cards. When she arranges the holes in a straight line, the light can travel through.

Explanation:
1. Take three rectangular cardboard pieces of the same size.
2. Punch a hole exactly in the middle of each of these three cardboard pieces.
3. Now place the cardboard pieces on a table in such a way that their holes will remain in a straight line.
4. Place a lighted candle or a glowing bulb in front of the first cardboard piece.
5. Try to see the light of the candle or the bulb from the hole of the third cardboard piece.
6. Is the light of the candle or bulb visible to you?
7. Yes.
8. Now displace the second cardboard piece (move it a little leftwards or rightwards).
9. Is tire light of the candle or bulb visible to you?
10.No.
11.Why is it so?
