A body is said to be at rest if its position does not change with time with respect to its surroundings.
A body is said to be in motion if its position changes with time with respect to its surroundings.
Theefore the states of motion and rest are relative.
Example : The driver in a moving bus is at rest with respect to a person sitting inaide the bus and he is in motion with respect to a person outside the bus.Therfore,rest and motion are relative.
