Direct sunlight is not polarized. It is because of its radiation vectors are in zig zag direction with un equal movements.
When this light is scattered by the air molecules its produces linear polarised light, which is at 90 degrees to the actual light. Only that light can be seen which is perpendicular to the plane of its movement. This phenomena was also explained by a scientist named Rayleigh
