The color change is an example of natural selection.

Explanation:

  • The color change is a phenotypic character which can either increases the chances of survival of living beings or may be responsible for their death. This can be shown with the help of an example.
  • The green color of the beetle changed to blue. The blue color could be easily observed by the birds and other predators and they feed those blue color beetles.
  • But the green color was the survival advantage over the blue color due to the fact that the green color mimic the color of grass. Thus the beetles used to remain undetected. This is an example of how the nature selects the best fit.
