Answer :-

\boxed{\rm g' = \dfrac{g}{\big(1 + \frac{h}{R_e}\big)^2}}

where

  • g' is variation in g
  • g is acceleration due to gravity
  • h is height from earth's surface
  • R_e is the distance from centre

From the formula, we can see that distance from centre is inversely proportional to the value of g.

So, if the distance from centre increases the value of g decreases.

Note :-

i) At the poles, value of 'g' is more and is zero at the centre of the earth.

ii) With increase in height, the value of 'g' decreases.

iii) The value of 'g' decreases as we go higher from the surface of the earth or as we go deep into the earth.

Formula is attachment,

where,

g' is variation in g

g is acceleration due to gravity

h is height from earth's surface

R_e is the distance from centre

From the formula, we can see that distance from centre is inversely proportional to the value of g.

So, if the distance from centre increases the value of g decreases
