Sound is a form of energy which gives us sensation of hearing.
Sound requires medium for propagation like solids, liquids and gases.
Some activities which proves that sound can travel through solids :
******************************************
1. Let us press our ear on to one side of a wooden bench and ask a friend to tap the other end of bench. We will hear the Sound of tapping through wooden bench. This means sound can travel through wood which is solid.
2 Let us take a meter scale made up of metal hold one end close to your ear and ask your friend to scratch other end. We can hear a loud sound.
3. We can also make a toy telephone as shown in the attachment which proves that sound can travel through solids.
