Explanation:
COnsumer PRotection Act was enacted in 1986 to protect the interests of consumers in India. According to the COPRA Act, the consumer has the right to be informed about the product he is purchasing. There are strict rules and guidelines on the set of information that has to be presented on the packaging of every product so that the consumer is fully aware and informed about the product he is purchase. Some of the information are:
- Price of the item.
- Quality and quantity information. (Eg. Jewelry)
- In case of apparel, size and care instructions.
- In case of food items, ingredients, manufacture date, expiry date, allergy information (Milk Powder, Cereals)
- Details of complimentary products if any and any terms of purchase associated with it (Buy 1 Get 1 Free)
