This is desirable to increase the magnitude of friction when unscrewing a bottle cap and while driving on icy roads.
This should take place in considering if there is friction that has resistance that one surface encounters when moving over the other.
It increase friction and helps them to make a good grip to prevent them from falling while moving.

While driving on icy road, it's required to increase the frictional force between the ice and the tires. Hence tires of larger grip and surface area and and sometimes chains are wounded around the surface of the tires.
A similar case is observed while opening a bottle cap. We apply forces in opposite directions. If the frictional force is less, then we cannot open the cap.
