This zone is also known as the open ocean—it’s the oceanic water htat is not in direct contact with the shore nor the bottom of the sea floor. The Pelagic zone is also subdivided into vertical zones and even though these waters are known as the deserts of the sea, there are still a large amount of organisms that live there.
