HEATING EFFECT OF CURRENT
When an electric current is passed through a high resistance wire the resistance of wire becomes a very hot and produce heat. this is called a heating effect of current. it is also called joules law of heating.
Applications of heating effect of current:-
1. Electric iron, electric kettle, electric toaster, electric oven, room heater, geyser, etc.
2. Tungusten metal is used for making filaments of electric bulb.
CAUSE OF HEATING EFFECT OF CURRENT:-
When a potential difference is applied across the ends of a conductor its electron gets accelerated from negative terminal to positive terminal. during the course of their motion, these electrons collide frequently against the atoms of conductor. At each collision part of kinetic energy of electron gets converted into heat and this increase the temperature of conductor.
