behold her, single in the field yon solitary highland lass. reaping and singing by herself, stop her or gently pass.                                                                                    The writer says that there is a solitary (single or alone) highland lass (girl on a hill) who is working with crops in the field and singing to herself. the writer finds the tune so touching that he asks the listeners to stop and respectfully listen, or pass, in effect go away.                                                                                 hope it helps! :)
