The heart of a tree by Henry Cuyler Bunner...
The main theme of this poem is “What does he plant who plants a tree?".The poet says that it's not just a tree we plant but a friend of sun and sky. And he describes the tree to be the flag of breezes free. And that it as the shaft of beauty that is towering high.
He says that we plant a home to heaven and for song and mother-croon of bird. This brings cool shade and tender rain and the seeds and buds of tomorrow. He says that tree is the glory of the plain and forest's heritage. And the harvest of a coming age is the joy that unborn eyes shall see. One plant a tree in love of home and loyalty. And the poem has a very beautiful ending which says that, "A nation's growth from sea to sea. Stirs in his heart who plants a tree”. This means that one who plants a tree would bring blessings and that helps in the nation’s growth.
