respiration in amoeba :

In amoeba respiration takes place through its cell membrane also called the plasma membrane. Amoeba gets oxygen gas dissolved in surrounding water through its plasma membrane by the process of diffusion. The oxygen gas diffused inside the body is used up by the amoeba.

nutrition in amoeba:

Nutrition in an Amoeba occurs through a process called phagocytosis where the entire organism pretty much engulfs the food it plans on eating up. The mode of nutrition in amoeba is known as holozoic nutrition. It involves the ingestion, digestion and egestion of food material.

excretion in amoeba:

Carbon dioxide and ammonia are the main waste products of amoeba and they are excreted out through the body by the process called diffusion with the help of contractile vacuole. The waste formed in the cytoplasm of amoeba gets in to the contractile vacuole.

reproduction in amoeba:

Amoeba is a unicellular organism, and just like bacteria, it reproduces through binary fission. After replicating its genetic material through mitotic division, the cell divides into two equal-sized daughter cells. In this method, two similar individuals are produced from a single parent cell.
