Hund's Rule. Hund's rule: every orbital in a subshell is singly occupied with one electron before any one orbital is doubly occupied, and all electrons in singly occupied orbitals have the same spin.
The first rule is especially important in chemistry, where it is often referred to simply as Hund's Rule. The three rulesare: For a given electron configuration, the term with maximum multiplicity has the lowest energy.
