the thar desert also known as the great Indian Desert and Marusthali is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the India and Pakistan. with an area of more than 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi),within the indian state of rajasthan, covering the districts of Jaisalmer,Barmer,Bikaner and Jodhpur and some region of the states of Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat. it is the world's 9th largest subtropical desert

Thar desert is a desert present in India. It is alsoknown as the Great Indian Desert. It is the 9th largest desert in the world. It is situated in Rajastan. The people living here lives in huts made out of mud and these are their temporary settlements. They keep migrating from one place to another riding on the camels. Bajra is grown in this region of Rajastan. The climate is very dry and hot. Even though people come and sing and dance here in the desert. A few highways go through the outskirts of the desert. The famous river Luni too flows in this region. It provides shelter to the famous Aravali ranges. Here, the ground water and thr river Luni plays an important role for the water resourse for the people, animals and plants. It covers an area of 200000 square kilometer.
