Explanation:

oesophagus is the food pipe of our body that joins throat with stomach .

Peristalsis is a movement that occurs in oesophagus.

This movement helps in swallowing food.

when we gulp food , a contraction and relaxation occurs in neck (in oesophagus ) due to which food is pushed into the stomach .

\huge\mathfrak\red{Answer:}

From the mouth, the food is pushed down into the next organ called the food pipe oesophagus. It acts as a passage to carry the food from the mouth to the stomach. No digestion of food takes place in the oesophagus. The food is pushed down in a wave- like motion caused by the contraction and relaxation of the oesophagal muscles. This wavy movement is called peristalsis, which is observed throughout the alimentary canal.
