• Our country has been losing around Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh crore (About $30.76 Billion) every year due to corrosion in various sectors, utility services, including infrastructure, production & manufacturing, and nuclear waste and defense.

• This loss is around 4-5% of our annual GDP, as stated by Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) CEO.  

• Galvanizing iron and steel structures can help in lowering these losses.

• The Western countries are ahead of India in sense of infrastructure as they mandate the use of zinc for galvanizing steel structures in highways, bridges, public utilities, airports, and metro stations, among others, to make them long-lasting.
