Let x = 0.5 .... ( i )

( multiplying both side by 10 )

10 x = 5 ...... ( ii )

Sub ( i ) from ( ii )

10x - x = 5 - 0.5

9x = 4.5

$x = \frac{4.5}{9}$

$x = \frac{45}{90}$

$x = \frac{1}{2}$


So, 0.5 can be written as 1/2 !!
