let the first integer be x...

let the second integer be x + 1...

  • 17² = 289

according to question...

x + x + 1 = 289

2x + 1 = 289

2x = 288

x =  \frac{288}{2}

x = 144

therefore,

first integer = x = 144

second integer = x + 1 = 144 + 1 = 145
