Solution,

We can simply express 2.23bar in the form of p/q in the following way:

Let us suppose x = 2.23bar          (1)

Multiplying equation (1) by 100 we get

                         100x = 223.23bar   (2)

              Now, subtracting equation (1) from (2), we get

                             99x = 221

          Transposing 99 from LHS to RHS, we get

                                x = 221/99

∴2.23 bar can be expressed as 221/99 in the form of p/q.
