Answer:

(a) 3/8

we can make the denominator 48 by multiplying 8 with 6.

Therefore the equation becomes 18/48.

Numerator should be multiplied with the same number with which the denominator has been multiplied. It applicable for all mathematical operations.

(b) 3/8

we can make the denominator -32 by multiplying 8 with -4.

Therefore the equation becomes -12/-32

= 12/32.

Minus is cancelled as it is there in both numerator and denominator.

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) 20

3/5 = (3 × 4)/(5 × 4) = 12/20

(ii) -20

3/5 = 3 × (-4)/5 × (-4) = -(12/20)

(iii) 45

3/5 = (3 × 9)/(5 × 9) = 27/45

(iv) 25

3/5 = (3 × 5)/(5 × 5) = 15/25

(v) – 35

3/5 = (3 × -7)/(5 × -7) = -(12/35)
