We can modify every linear logarithmic term of same base into a single one. So, logA(M) + logA(N) [suppose both of them are of base A], is equivalent to logA(MN). And for logA(M) - logA(N) = logA(M/N).

Another property for logarithm is, xlogA(p) = logA(p^x), of any base A.

following your expression,

log(x) + 2log(y) - 3log(a)

hence, all three terms are of same base…

→log(x) + log(y^2) - log(a^3)

→log {(x * y^2) / a^3}
