7/12 is the correct answer.

It is given that, we have to show 84/144 as a rational no. with denominator 12. To do so, we have to find a no. which is divided by 144 to give 12. Obviously, this no. is 12( because, 144/12 = 12).

Since, we have divided the denominator by 12, hence, we have to divide the numerator by 12 also.

At all, simply, by dividing 84 and 144 both by 12, or reducing the terms by 12:-

(84/12)/(144/12) => 7/12

Hence, the correct answer is 7/12.
