Correct Question :- Express square of 17 as sum of two consecutive natural number. What is smaller number ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • square of 17 is = 17 * 17 = 289 .

so, let the smaller number is x .

then , greater number will be (x + 1) .

A/q,

→ x + (x + 1) = 289

→ 2x + 1 = 289

→ 2x = 289 - 1

→ 2x = 288

→ x = 144 (Ans.)

therefore, smaller number is 144 .
