in termof sinA

tan A = sinA / cosA

= sinA / + or -√(1-sin^2A)

in terms of cosA

tanA = +or -√(1-cos^2A) / cosA

Hope this is your answer

Here are the formulas for three of the six t-ratios:

sin A=(opposite)/(hypotenuse)

cos A=(adjacent)/(hypotenuse)

tan A=(opposite)/(adjacent)

For simplicity, lets abbreviate

~opposite as opp

~hypotenuse as hyp

~adjacent as adj

So,

sin A/cos A= (opp/hyp)/(adj/hyp)

hypotenuse gets cancelled

sin A/cos A=(opp/adj)=tan A

Therefore

tan A=sin A/cos A
