Express the following in standard / scientific notation: (a) The diameter of Neptune is about 4.5 x 104 Km (b) The diameter of Earth is about 12,742 Km

Hi ,

i ) Standard form :

The diameter of Neptune = 4.5 × 10⁴ km

= ( 45/10 ) × 10000

= 45000 km

ii ) Scientific form :

The diameter of Earth = 12742 km

= 12742 km × ( 10⁴ / 10⁴ )

= 1.2742 × 10⁴ km
