Buddhism is centered upon the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha, whereas Jainism is centered on the life and teachings of Mahavira. Buddhism is a polytheistic religion and its main goal is to gain enlightenment. Jainism is also a polytheistic religion and its goals are based on non-violence and liberation the soul.

The main point of difference is Buddhism believes in both incarnation and rebirth whereas Jainism does not believe in incarnation but only believes in rebirth. Once the soul is liberated it will not return to the earth. Enlightenment is not limited to Buddhism but is also in Jainism as Samyak Ghyan or right knowledge.
