dududakeshi: is the bar for all number 178 or only 78

x= 0.3178178.... (i)
Multiply 10 on both sides-
10x=3.178178... (ii)
Multiply 100 on both sides-
100x=31.78178.... (iii)
Multiply 1000 on both sides-
1000x=317.8178..... (iv)
Multiply 10,000 on both sides-
10000x= 3178.178178 (v)
Subtract (ii) from (v)
10000x-10x= 3178.178178..... --3.178178
9990x= 3175
x=3175/990

here's ur answer...

given :- 0.3178178178...

let x be 0.3178178178... -------(1)

multiplying both sides by 1000 since 3 numbers r repeating.

1000 * x = 1000 * 0.3178178178...

1000x = 317.8178178178...-------(2)

subtract equation (1) from equation (2)

1000x - x = 317.8178178178... - 0.3178178178...

999x = 317.5

x = 317.5/999
