The conductivity of a solution is defined as the reciprocal of the resistivity.

Thus

k = (1/R) x (L/A)

where k = conductivity

R = resistance

L = Length

A = Area

The term (L/A) is defined as the cell constant of the cell and is the ratio of length and area of the plate.

also conductivity is given by the relation :

k = molar conductivity/volume

=> molar conductivity = conductivity x volume

Hence the molar conductivity is defined as the product of conductivity and volume.
