Competition Means "the activity or conditions of striving to gain or win something by defeating or establishing superiority over others.

it is good to have competition amongst oneself as it enhances the chance of getting good marks and thus allows one to led a better lifestyle. Competition sometimes also becomes a cause for suicide. When a student is unable to acquired a good marks ,he go into depression and try to harm himself. Thus, it is good to have competition but at the same time it is also not good for the society.

This generally arises when there is a lack of resources to distribute among people. The winners of the competition claim the resource.

The ability to win in the competition shows that the winning person or group is superior in physical or mental aspects or both. This means they are better suited to survive their environment. They also stand a better chance to spread their genes by reproducing with a healthy mate. This is the base for Darwin's theory of natural selection.

Society has reached the present by the sole act of winning the competition. Hence, competition leads to progress.
