Animals have the same basic rights as humans
Good morning everyone present here; I am going to debate in favor of the motion ‘animals have the same basic rights as humans’.
How will you react to anyone’s decision to keep you in prison? I know most of you will fight tooth and nail to maintain your freedom. I ask then why are animals kept in confinement in the name of zoos?
As man loves freedom, so do all forms of animals. Man has kept animals in zoos for his pleasure, entertainment and convenience. This is man’s cruelty to animals! Have animals ever encroached into man’s world and hunted him? Has any animal ever encaged any man? If man were treated with the same cruelty, how would he feel? Certainly, he would feel the pain, hurt, suffering, and torture if being in the cage?
Even the national and international laws in in favor of animal freedom and welfare. According to the Constitution of India: “It is the fundamental duty of every citizen of India to have compassion for all living creatures. Article 51A (g).” There is another law that says, “To kill or maim any animal, including stray animals, is a punishable offence. IPC Sections 428 and 429.”
Animals are equally precious and should equally share God’s earth and should not be caged at all. They should be in the wilderness with their families. Animals should live in their natural habitat and be allowed to roam freely because animals’ natural instincts will vanish if they are caged in zoos. Also, some animals are forced to live in climates that they are not accustomed to and this is cruel. For example, the elephant is accustomed to live in tropical climates but is forced to live in zoos in cold countries like Canada.
Additionally, animals are physically and mentally healthier in the wild than in zoos. They are able to have more exercise as they can run around and hunt in larger land spaces in the wilderness. Zoos do not have such large spaces. Caged animals do not know what it is to naturally hunt their food or to explore their environment and to select a mate. Also not being able to climb, hunt and run will make the animals obese. In the wild animals are able to eat their natural foods instead of artificial foods given in some zoos. And these unnatural foods make the animals sick.
Besides, it is not morally and ethically right to deprive someone of the right of living in their own home. Forests and their other habitats are the natural home of animals. We must let them live there. We must follow the precept of ‘Live and let live others’ conscientiously.
So I conclude my speech by reasserting that animals have the same basic rights as humans’.

They do have rights.
We have animal abuse, neglect, and animal control laws. Those are rights.
A better question is that is a 1,000 times more thoughtful are these questions,
“Should there be a limit to how much animals have rights? How far should we allow them to have rights?”
No one asks this. Like ever…. Why is this a big deal? The lines between a person hunting a wild animal, using them to help in making medicines, help in experimenting on to help save a species either its own or another, raising and slaughtering the live stock to be eaten, from poaching, abusing animals, animal neglect, and animal mistreatment are blurry! I hate to break it to you but if it means doing some mean things to mice for developing cures for us or other species then it is worth it. A guy herding cattle to be killed in a slaughter house is not the same has animal abuse. Not every guy hunting a bunny is a monster. The people that actually abuse and poach animals are . When you look at the minutia of both worlds it brings up the issue of there should be rights for animals. However…. you can’t give them full rights like a human. You can’t lock someone away for killing an ant or fish like if they done it too a human. You can if they are killing things you are trying to conduct wildlife conservation on and they are poaching. Can’t stop research involving mammals if it is for the greater good for our or their species. You can’t have a everything at full rights for animals. To many people today have a domesticated lifestyle where they can’t handle seeing an animal dying. They aren’t used to it so they are known to often confuse typical hunting from animal abuse. They want everything to be A okay… You can’t have that… You can’t allow animals with full human rights like us. They MUST have a limit. MAJORITY of the world doesn’t comprehend this question. How far should you allow animal rights to go? There must be a gauge and it can never be at 100%. It would cause problems. Making the gauge adjustment for the amount is not easy. Also people as mention before can’t always tell what should be treated and considered as animal abuse and another not. We need to talk about this subject more than just, “more animal rights.” That is just saying something and neglecting the minutia of making it. They will always put a limit on it. This means talking about the limit should be spoken about WAY MORE OFTEN.
