A society is the people who live in a country or region, their organizations, and their way of life.

::The term society has been derived from the Latin word ‘Socius’ which means a companion, association or fellowship. It is because man always lives in the company of his fellow beings. This led George Simmel to remark that sociability is the essence of society. The term society is understood in different sense. In our day today discussion society is used to refer to the members of specific in group for example-Advice Society, Harijan Society etc. some other time it refers to some institutions like Arya Samaj, Brahmo Samaj.

My view is that society acts something like a parent, especially to the young. Society is where the young experience reality for the first time and their behavior is somewhat dictated by the values, habits and actions of society in general. Society develops from the common beliefs and values of the people and once established, the new inhabitants develop from the beliefs and values the society as it has been passed on to them.

Societies change as reality changes. What was accepted belief 100 years ago may not work in today's society. Societies like people must change as the external world changes and it will change. When I was a child we never worried about terrorist invading our country and killing us. In fact, we didn’t worry about locking our doors at night.

One very important thing to understand is that whatever the beliefs, values and practices of a society, when practiced over a long period of time and carried to their ultimate conclusion will saturate and stop working. The freedom to own a firearm results in too much reliance on firearms, more powerful firearms, and the tendence to use firearms inappropriately. Capitalism started out to be a great economic system until the income distribution became unsustainable, people becoming to greedy for their own good and the income for laborers became unsustainable for a family. If free markets are the goal no matter what, you may reach the point where profits are zero. It is an unsustainable conclusion.

So for any country to believe that they have the perfect system form now to eternity they are badly mistaken. We must always be willing to tweak the economic machinery, individual right and social well being in line with what works.
