Expressing linear equation in standard form
1. Write each of the following equations in the form ax + by + c -O and indicate the values of a,
b and c in each case:
(i) 2x + 3y = 4 (ii) x - 4 = 3 y (iii) 4 = 5x - 3y (iv) 2x - y

STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION:
i) 2x+3y=4
2x+3y-4=0
ax+by+c=2x+3y+(-4)
Therefore,
a=2,b=3,c=(-4).
ii) x-4=3y
x-3y-4=0
ax+by+c=x+(-3y)+(-4)
Therefore,
a=1,b=(-3),c=(-4).
iii) 4=5x-3y
5x-3y-4=0
ax+by+c=5x+(-3y)+(-4).
Therefore,
a=5,b=(-3),c=(-4).
iv) 2x-y+0=0
ax+by+c=2x+(-1y)+0
Therefore,
a=2,b=(-1),c=0.
