The extensive plains with rare trees are called Steppe.
It is also called as veld and prairie. In this plain, trees are only found in the coastal region.
These grasslands get low rainfall and the soil found in these regions has high humus and phosphorus which increases the agricultural productivity.
The shrubs and grasses are the major greeneries found in these regions.
There are two different steppes such as temperate and subtropical steppe.
