Friend A: How are art and culture important?
Friend B: Art and culture are our heritage; for example Vedas, spirituality, traditions, human values, etc. are all part of our culture and art.
Friend A: How are they important in the current times?
Friend B: Whatever we are because of our art and culture. The buildings, the current practices in the society, the life-style. Almost everything is influenced by art and culture. For example, the architectural wonders of our famous temples, historical places, etc. are part of our culture. The family values, our festivals, pluralism, etc. are part of our culture.
Friend A: Oh I see; our country earns so much of foreign exchange owing to the historical sites and buildings, doesn't it?
Friend B: Yes, it does. Some of the most famous World Heritage Sites in India are the Hampi, Khajuraho, caves of Ajanta and Ellora, Konark Sun Temple, Taj Mahal, and Brihadeswara Temple in Tanjore; they attract millions of tourists every year. These buildings are the proof of India's rich art.
Friend A: And what about culture?
Friend B: Our culture is also very popular and multi-colored; people from all over the world study our culture and derive good values out of it for direction and guidance.
Friend A: That's great. I am proud of our national art and culture.
