Total distance =10m+12m=22m

Displacement is equal to the length of the straight line joining the end and the start points.

Now joining the start and the end point would give us a triangle. And the displacement would be equal to tge length of hypotenuse of the triangle.The distances 10 m and 12 m would pe perpendicular and base.

Hence by Pythagoras theoram

displacement=

 \sqrt{ {10}^{2} +  {12}^{2}  }  \\  =  \sqrt{244 }  \\  = 15.62m
