Answer:

This excerpt is from "A Legend of Northland". The questions are answered below.

Explanation:

a) These lines are spoken by Saint Peter to the selfish woman who couldn't bring herself to give him even a tiny cake.

b) The speaker will now have to build her own house, that is, when she turns into a bird she'll have to build a nest for herself. She would have to do this since Saint Peter thought that she did not deserve the comforts that a human had.

c) The listener will now get her scanty food by boring the wood all day long. As a woodpecker, she would have to peck at the wood continuously to find foud.

d) She has been condemned to boring all day as she was too selfish to part with even a tiny amount of food as a human. Her selfishness is what made the Saint condemn her to this fate.

e) The word boring has been repeated three times to show how tedious her task of finding food was going to be and that she would have to persistently work all day to be able to eat.
