ANSWER:-

There are three methods which are used to extract minerals.

  1. Mining
  2. Drilling
  3. Quarrying

Here mining also had two kinds.

  1. Shaft mining.
  2. Open cast mining.

1. Mining:-

  • The process of taking out minerals from rocks buried under the earth's surface.
  • For example:- Manganese, tantalum, copper, tin, nickel, bauxite (aluminum ore),iron are some minerals that are extracted by mining.

  • Open cast mining- Minerals that lie at shallow depth are taken out by removing the surface layer.
  • Shaft mining- Deep bored are to be made to reach mineral deposits that lie at great depth.

2. Drilling:-

  • Some mineral occur far below the earth's surface. So deep wells are bored to take them out. This is called drilling.
  • For example- Petroleum and Natural gas are some of the minerals which are extracted by quarrying.

3. Quarrying:-

  • Minerals that lie near the surface are simply rugged by quarrying.
  • For example- coal and lignite mining, oil and gas extraction are done by quarrying.
