The Song of India by VK Gokak is in the form of a dialogue between the poet and our motherland India. The poet asks Mother India what aspect he is supposed to glorify in a poem. He wonders whether he should sing in the north or in the south about the snow-covered Himalayas. In addition, he talks about the historical temples of the country, the Indian soldiers killed in struggle for the land, the religious saints of the country and its technologies. Yet Mother India is asking a poet to sing on her street about leper and beggar, poor children and other less important things or men.

VK Gokak tries, through the poem, to convey that we must be proud of our heritage, community, heroes and industrial growth. However, we can not forget the problems facing our country, including poverty and unemployment, class and caste disputes, illiteracy and ignorance. We must aim to eliminate our motherland's these problems

Explanation:

1)The speaker here is the poet

2) He is speaking to Mother India, Mother Earth

3) The poet ask Mother India what he can sing for her. With a calm voice, the mother said that. She wants beggar's song, leper's song, or someone downtrodden. Or the masses of streets, areas that are unclean or dirty, or any isolated location. The poet disregards the appeal of his mother and again asks about the poem. The poet continues to sing  about the songs of rock-cut temples. Epics in stone or sacrifice of her children and her own children or the inspired persons, famous prophets, the great people who have done great tasks or worthy pilgrims.
