GIVEN :

F be the force between the two bodies placed at a certain distance .

TO FIND:

if the distance between them is doubled then What is gravitational force F ?

SOLUTION :

◆Equation of GRAVITATIONAL FORCE,

Fg = G m m' /(r^2)

◆Where,

r = distance between them

m ,m' - masses of bodies

G - gravitational constant.

◆Distance is doubled, r' = 2r

◆Fg' = G m m' /(r'^2)

= G m m' /(2^2(r^2))

◆On substitution,

Fg' = Fg /4.

ANSWER :

GRAVITATIONAL FORCE Fg will be

F/4 .
