Function should remain real so  √(x2–1) should not be equal to zero so

x2–1≠0  

x2=1  

Or  x=±1  

And also it should not be equal to  0  otherwise it would be imaginary so,

Then the domain will be  R− { ±1,0 }

Or (−∞,1)∪(1,∞)  

And range  (1,∞)
