Answer:

First given f(x)=x^2+x-1

Also given condition 4f(x)=f(2x)--------@

so find f(2x)

f(2x)=(2x)^2+(2x)-1               ( hint: just replace x in given function with 2x)

      =4x^2+2x-1

from condition @

4(x^2+x-1)=4x^2+2x-1

4x^2+4x-4=4x^2+2x-1         (hint: both 4x^2 are cancelled)

4x-2x=4-1

2x=3

therefore x=3/2
