There are several ways that you can get answer of the X, but there is a simple method where it doesn't involve user to perform hard work by expanding the (x - 2)^2. Only, there is a chance where they shift each term one side to another. An example:

2 * ( x - 2 )^2 = 18

First step: We can shift number 2 which is multipliying towards another side. This will allow the expression ( x - 2 )^2 to become independent.

( x - 2 )^2 = 18 / 2 - Note: when any term changes the position to another side itself should automatically invert the symbol. In this case, opposite of multiplication is dividing.

Second step: Now, we can solve the simple fraction such as 18 / 2 = 9. So, it will become ( x - 2 )^2 = 9.

Third step: Actually, now we can invert the exponent to another side which in case turns to be square root of nine.

x - 2 = sqr(9)

Fourth step finishing the equation:

x - 2 = 3

x = 3 + 2

x = 5

Checking the answer:

2 * ( 5 - 2 )^2 = 18

2 * (3)^2 = 18

2 * 9 = 18 Só, the x value is correct.

( x - 2 ) ² + 9 ( x - 2 ) ÷ ( x + 7 )

x ² - 4x + 4 + 9

x² - 4x + 13
